    In 1982, a film called Arth had released. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, the film starred Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi in the lead. The film was way ahead of its times, and thanks to the earnest performance by all the stars, this became one of the best films to have ever been made in Bollywood.

    In 2017, Bollywood had decided to remake the film, and if reports are to be believed then there has been some progress in that direction. Actress and filmmaker Revathi, who played one of the female leads in the 1993 Tamil remake Marupadiyam, had been roped in to direct the film. Now it looks like the remake has got one of its lead actresses.

    According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Jacqueline Fernandez has been roped in to reprise Smita Patil's role in the remake of Arth. She will play the woman who Inder falls in love with and because of whom he ultimately decides to break his marriage. The daily reported,

    "The makers reached out to Jacqueline recently and she really liked both, the concept and her role. She is really excited to be a part of the remake of an iconic film like Arth and has given her verbal consent to the part but is yet to sign on the dotted line."

    If she indeed signs up for the role, it would be one of the best roles of her career. Jacqueline will also be seen in the Netflix film, Mrs. Serial Killer, that would be directed by Shirish Kunder.
