Janhvi Kapoor’s Gunjan Saxena And Ananya Panday-Ishaan Khatter’s Khaali Peeli To Release On OTT Platforms?

When the nationwide lockdown was declared to help stop the spread of coronavirus, theater release of many much-awaited films was postponed indefinitely whereas production of upcoming projects was stalled. While makers of some films are waiting for the situation to get better, others have decided to launch their films on OTT platforms. Two such movies which may directly release on digital platforms are Janhvi Kapoor starrer Gunjan Saxena biopic and Ananya Panday-Ishaan Khatter’s romantic action film Khaali Peeli.

According to the latest report in Spotboye, Zee is trying to get both the films on its digital platform. The source was quoted saying, “Zee has made a sensible decision. There was no point in keeping these films in cupboards until cinema halls open to half/full. capacity. You never know when the situation will improve.” The report also states that Janhvi’s film is almost complete, whereas Khaali Peeli only needs some finishing touches. However, no confirmation has been shared about the same from makers of any of the films.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl features Janhvi as the first female and Indian woman airforce pilot in combat. The film also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles and was slated to hit theatres on 24^th April. On the other hand, Ananya and Ishaan’s Khaali Peeli is directed by Maqbool Khan and produced by Ali Abbas Zafar and Himanshu Mehra. It was scheduled to release on 12^th June this year.
