Javed Akhtar Gives An Update On Shabana Azmi’s Health, Says “Don’t Worry... Reports Are Positive!”

Tragedy struck at the Akhtar family yesterday when veteran actress Shabana Azmi met with an accident at the Pune-Mumbai Expressway. Her car had rammed into a truck and Shabana had sustained some major injuries. Javed Akhtar was also in teh car but he managed to escape with minor injuries. The driver was also injured. Shabana was brought to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Hostipal, where she is still admitted. Many celebs had gone to the hospital to be with the family and people have been praying for her speedy recovery, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Javed Akhtar, who is by the side of his wife, has now given an update on Shabana Azmi’s health. According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, the lyricist has said, “Don’t worry. She is in the ICU but all the scan reports are positive. It seems there’s no serious harm done.”

Well, now we can finally heave a sigh of relief! A source close to the family had earlier said, “Just a few days earlier we were all celebrating  Javed Saab’s 75th birthday. Now, this catastrophe has stuck. Though it could have been much worse.”

Shabana Azmi has sustained injuries on her brain and has fractured part of her backbone. The hospital had earlier said that the condition of the actress is stable and she has been kept under observation.
