As many would be knowing a biopic is to be made on Captain Hawa Singh who is also known as the pioneer of Indian Boxing. However, the film has been stuck in the pipeline for 2 years now. The film was first announced in the year 2016.

Vinod Chopra Films’ former COO, brought the rights of the events of Hawa Singh’s life and according to media reports a big director was also being considered to direct the film. However, all of that didn’t turn out to be as planned and the film went on the back-burner.

And now, almost after a gap of 3 long years, the Hawa Singh biopic is back again in the news.

We at Desimartini.com have exclusively learnt that John Abraham has been dropped from the film and another actor has been apparently roped in.

According to a close source, Sooraj Pancholi has been replaced with John Abraham in the titular role and the film is all ready to go on floors by the end of this year.

“when a film is made on a boxer, it is very necessary the actor is physically fit and undergoes rigorous training for the role so that he looks authentic. The lead has to undergo an intense training and the makers of the film feel that it would be difficult for John to do the role at this age. This is why they decided to look for somebody younger who could get professionally trained to look authentic in the film.”

The source further revealed that Sooraj will have to undergo rigorous boxing training for a few months before the film’s production begins in Delhi in the year end and that  the actor has already started preparing for the role and will also be travelling to Bhiwani in Haryana to get trained and learn the rural diction so that he looks convincing in the role. Boxing champion Vijendra Singh, who was trained in Hawa Singh’s Bhiwani Boxing Club, has also been approached to help Sooraj in getting the boxing nuances right.

According to another source, “real boxers from Pakistan, Bangladesh and other countries will also be part of the shoot so that the boxing scenes look real. The film will be shot in three different locations namely Delhi, Haryana and Thailand. However, no one is still sure as to who will be directing the project.

Whatever the case maybe, after this film Sooraj will surely get a good mileage as an actor.
