The cinemas may have re-opened but it looks like the trend of direct to digital releases is here to stay in Bollywood. Despite there now being a vaccine and audiences slowly but steadily returning to theatres, 2021 will see many big releases on OTT itself, and joining the bandwagon is John Abraham starrer Mumbai Saga.

According to a Pinkvilla report, Sanjay Gupta’s gangster drama has been sold to Amazon Prime Video for a direct release. The streaming giant is said to have shelled out a pretty penny for Mumbai Gaga and the deal has reportedly been sealed for Rs. 65 crores. The film will soon be announced and the trailer is apparently cut and ready to be released.

The film in its large ensemble includes Emraan Hashmi, Gulshan Grover, Suniel Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Rohit Roy, Prateik Babbar, Amole Gupte, Kajal Aggarwal, Samir Soni, and Mahesh Manjekar apart from John Abraham. Mumbai Saga is touted to be an action crime film set in Mumbai during the ‘80s and ‘90s.

Not just this Sanjay Gupta film though, a few other much anticipated films like Kartik Aaryan starrer Dhamaka, Saina Nehwal biopic starring Parineeti Chopra and Sanya Malhotra’s Pagglait are also said to be in talks for a direct release on OTT according to the portal.

Looks like the OTT platforms will continue the entertainment space even this year as the trend continues.
