John Abraham: 'If An Actor Is Not Confident Of A Film, He Dumps It On OTT; I Won’t Use Pandemic As A Crutch”

John Abraham is all set to return on the big screens with Mumbai Saga. The Sanjay Gupta film was announced back in 2018 and the shoot was in full swing. However, the plans of a big release were marred by the pandemic. In between, there had been news of the film releasing directly on OTT and lead actor John Abraham not being happy about it. Now, he has opened up about it.

Talking to Mid Day, John said that he called up producer Bhushan Kumar the moment reports of the film releasing on OTT started doing the rounds. He also said, "It won’t make as much money as movies did in 2019. All theatres across the country haven’t opened, but with this film, a few more will. After we announced this film, five more movies were announced [for theatrical run]."

He also added, "Let’s be honest, it’s a common industry notion that if an actor is not confident of a film, he dumps it on OTT. Almost 90 percent of movies that opted for OTT release were bad. I am not saying this film is spectacular, but we are not worried about its failure. I won’t use the pandemic as a crutch.”

The film is all set to release on the 19th of March. It also stars Emraan Hashmi and it would be the conflict between both the characters that would make the film interesting.
