Over the years the authenticity and validity of award shows in Bollywood have often come under question. While audiences may love to see which actors win and see them perform lavish acts on stage, for actor John Abraham these shows are as good as a ‘circus’.

John is certainly not a face one would see walking down the red carpet and smiling at the flashing cameras year after year. The Satyamev Jayate star was pretty straight forward in expressing his disdain for award shows during a recent interview where he said that he has no respect for them. “I totally don’t respect awards. It’s a joke. It’s comical to see actors dance and then collect an award and make funny jokes,” he told IANS in a conversation.

His opinion might be shared a rare few in the industry but for his part he explains, “I feel what they are doing is not necessarily wrong or what I am doing is wrong. But I am on this side of the fence. I am quiet about it. I just don’t go for these functions. I will be a joker going to a circus, it will be demeaning and I don’t want to do that.”

The actor is gearing up for his films Mumbai Saga and Satyamev Jayate 2 to release this year also expressed his love for action films and told the news agency, “It’s a genre that I am comfortable with. The audience finds that space very believable with me and I, too, enjoy that space. There are actors who love song and dance and I love action. Action sequences are my item numbers.”

Apart from these two releases this year, John has Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan and Ek Villain 2 under his belt.
