Those are rare moments when we see something happen in a movie come to life in reality. So is the case of Digvijay Deshmukh, the cricketer, who recently got picked up by the IPL Team Mumbai Indians at the auctions. That’s the real life moment, but in the reel life we have seen him play the young boy Ali in Sushant Singh Rajput starrer Kai Po Che, who the actor trains in the movie to be a cricketer.

The fact was brought to our attention by a tweet posted by author Chetan Bhagat whose book, 3 Mistakes Of My life, inspired the movie Kai Po Che. In his tweet, Chetan wrote, "There is magic in life sometimes. The boy who acted as Ali, the gifted cricketer in Kai Po Che (The 3 mistakes of my life), was just selected by the Mumbai Indians to play the IPL in real life. Congratulations Digvijay Deshmukh!"

Sushant Singh Rajput’s character in the film is an ex-district level cricketer who trains the young Ali, a local boy who dreams to be a cricketer. Well, the young Ali is now 21 and made his T20 debut in November 2019 playing for the state of Maharashtra. Digvijay was 14 when he acted in the movie.

We hope to now see Divijay hit it out of the park, literally, playing for Mumbai Indians.
