Kajol Opens Up On Combating Unrealistic Expectations That Society Had From Her

One of the most adored and popular actresses of the Hindi film industry, Kajol is admired not only for her acting skills but also for her strong personality. Well, the beauty is currently busy winning hearts with her Netflix original Tribhanga, which follows the unconventional and imperfect lives of three women-- Tanvi Azmi, her on-screen daughter Kajol and on-screen granddaughter Mithila Palkar. In the film, the ladies lived life on their own terms, never paying heed to expectations that the society had from them-- which is something Kajol has in common with the characters.

In a recent interview with Mid Day, Kajol shared, “Society expected a lot of things from us all. But we chose not to give into those expectations. Society expected me to give up working after I got married. Society expected me not to get married. Society didn’t expect me to come back to films again and again and again, and I’ve made about 37 comebacks so far. So society never expected me to come back with another film. So society has had some very unrealistic expectations from me, so we’ll just go with that.”

Talking about combating with these ‘unrealistic’ expectations, Kajol shared that one of the first lessons her mother taught her was to think for herself. So for her, it was always about her expectations from herself and at times the expectations of the people that she loves. But most importantly, what she expected from herself is what mattered. Kajol went on to add that this is how she has lived her life and has no regrets.

Well, we can definitely learn a lot from her!
