Kangana Ranaut Feels That Despite Nepotism In The South, Outsiders Are Not Bullied In The Film Industry

Kangana Ranaut starrer Thalaivi will be her first pan Indian project and the actress who has been a crusader against nepotism in Bollywood has now spoken about the issue as it prevails in the South Indian film industry. Having shot a large portion of Thalaivi in Chennai, Kangana spoke about collaborating with cast and the crew from the South during the trailer launch of Thalaivi.

The Queen actress freely admitted that South Indian film industries are marred by nepotism just like Bollywood but commended the film fraternity there for always welcoming outsiders with open arms. Kangana at the trailer launch said,  “I must say that since Thalaivi is the culmination of many industries, one thing that I have noticed in the South film industries–be it Tamil or Telugu–is that there may be nepotism in the South film industry but there is no groupism and gangism. There’s no subjecting outsiders to bullying.”

Continuing her thoughts she added that she would like to do more films in the South in the future. “They are very supportive and inclusive of people who come from outside. And the kind of love and encouragement I have experienced here, I don’t want to leave. I’m here now. I hope to do many more films here,” she said.

The actress has always freely expressed her views on favoritism in Bollywood and how it limits opportunities for outsiders struggling to make it in the industry. Not afraid of taking names Kangana has named various actors and actresses along with filmmakers and producers for favouring star kids and promoting their careers.

Kangana plays former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in Thalaivi which will hit theatres on 23 April.
