Kangana Ranaut And Rajkummar Rao’s Film Mental Hai Kya Title To Be Renamed? Here’s Why

Film Mental Hain Kya will be starring  Rajkummar Rao and Kangana Ranaut. Ever since the film was announced, it has only found itself surrounded by controversies which aren’t required. And the most recent controversy that took a toll on the film was changing of its title.

Kangana Ranaut was spotted today at the meeting with CBFC regarding the film and she tried her best to get the movie a clean chit. In the meeting, the jury cleared the film with minor changes, almost no cuts, but the name of the film will be changed and information will be shared by the filmmakers very soon. The film was also given the U/A certificate. So, according to sources, an official announcement regarding the new title will be made soon.

"Well, there will be a mild change in the title of the film since they find it too harsh, so we are more than happy to do that. And, other than that there are absolutely no cuts and they were thrilled to see the film," Kangana told the press.

Mental Hai Kya had been in news because of various reasons. Firstly, The film clashed with Super 30 on July 26, There were also rumors of how Kangana Ranaut interfered in the creative decision-making of the project. However, Prakash Kovelamudi totally called off those rumors terming them as baseless. He said, "We finished the first leg in Mumbai, the second in London, and the last one in Mumbai again. The final schedule was wrapped last month. That's all. All other conjecture is baseless."

In April, Mental health experts in India have described Mental Hai Kya poster as atrocious and insensitive towards people who are actually suffering from mental health issues. The  Indian Psychiatric Society had filed an official complaint to CBFC chairperson Prasoon Joshi, demanding an explanation on the posters and how the movie chooses to represent mental health.

In response to the Indian Psychiatric Society's objections, the makers had issued a clarification saying that the film does not discriminate against individuals with mental illness but encouraged people to embrace their individuality.

Mental Hain Kya, also stars Amyra Dastur, Jimmy Shergill and Hrishita Bhatt in key roles. The film is directed by Prakash Kovelampudi and is produced by Ekta Kapoor. The story of the film is written by Prakash's wife Kanika Dhillon
