Kangana Ranaut Receives Legal Notice From Didda-Kashmir Ki Yodha Rani’s Author, Demands Reply Within 3 Days

It has just been a few days that Kangana Ranaut announced her next- Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda, and she is already embroiled in a legal case over it. No sooner did she announce the film than the author Ashish Kaul said that she took the story from his book Didda-Kashmir Ki Yodha Rani and therefore violated his 'sole right'. Kangana had replied and said that the film would not be based on his book. Now, he has sent the actress a legal notice.

According to a report in BT, the legal notice reads, "Our Client was further appalled to discover that the nature and treatment of the character of Didda in the Proposed Film, was identical to the Narrative Text, the Book and the information communicated by Our Client in his e-mail of 11 September 2020. To add further insult to injury, Kangana Ranaut and Kamal Kumar Jain have since issued public statements alleging that their proposed Film is not based on the Book. It is re-iterated that the description of Didda as identified by Kangana Ranaut to promote the Film is identical to as set out in the Book."

Ashish Kaul had earlier stated that he had sent the content of the book to Kangana Ranaut via email and had requested her to write a foreword. However, he never heard back from her or her manager and sister, Rangoli Chandel. The notice further reads that Kangana's actions have caused Kaul 'mental anguish' and is being 'needlessly harassed'. Kangana is required to reply to the notice within 72 hours, failing which she will atttract further legal action.
