Kangana Ranaut Reveals Javed Akhtar Gave The Best Compliment For Gangster Says, 'Only Later I Realized People Also Change'

Kangana Ranaut has fought a lot of odds to make it big in Bollywood. From going against her father to become an actress to fighting nepotism in the film industry, she has finally completed 15 years in the industry.

With a perfect debut as a teen in Anurag Basu’s Gangster, Kangana stunned critics and audiences alike with her acting chops soon after her arrival in the movies. Only getting finer with time, Kangana reveals that the best compliment she got for her debut came from lyricist Javed Akhtar and actress Shabana Azmi.

The actress is today at loggerheads with the renowned lyricist who filed a defamation suit against the actress last year. Talking to Times Of India as Gangster completed 15 years, Kangana recalls the compliments the celebrated couple heaped on her after watching her performance. She says, “They were absolutely stunned and they kept repeating 'who are you? ', ' where are you from? ', ‘you did so well', 'who taught you acting?', 'Are you from here or some other universe? '. That is how they reacted and it felt nice.”

The four-time National Award-winning star did not fail at noting the irony that today they have a tiff with her and added, “They were very kind and welcoming of me and my art. It was only later that I realized that when things change, people also change.”

Javed Akhtar slapped Kangana with a defamation suit in November last year alleging that she dragged his name in an interview where she spoke about actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death and defamed him while referring to a Bollywood nexus.
