Kangana Ranaut's Thalaivi Pushed Ahead From April 23 Due Increasing Covid-19 Cases; Makers Yet To Set A New Release Date

Kangana Ranaut’s much-anticipated act as former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa will have to wait. Like many films scheduled before it, Kangana’s pan-Indian release Thalaivi has been pushed ahead during the alarming increase in Covid-19 cases in the country of late.

Thalaivi’s trailer which released last month had fans and celebrities hailing Kangana for bringing Jayalalitha’s story to life with such finesse and it instantly made everyone look forward to 23 April. The film has now joined the league of movies like Haathi Mere Saathi, Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Chehre which have all been pushed due to the piling Covid-19 caseload in the nation.

Sharing the news of the film’s delay in a statement the makers informed, “Since the film has been made in multiple languages, we would like to release it in all languages on the same day. But with an alarming rise in COVID 19 cases, subsequent precautions and lockdowns, even though our film is ready for release on 23rd April, we want to extend all the support towards the government rules and regulations and have decided to postpone release of Thalaivi. Though we are deferring the release date, we are confident that we will receive as much love from you all then as well. Stay safe and looking forward to everyone's support.”

The makers did not announce a deferred release date with the statement.
