Kanika Kapoor Talks About Her COVID Journey; Reveals Her Family Got Nasty Messages Asking Them To Kill Themselves

Singer Kanika Kapoor made headlines when she tested positive for COVID-19 in March this year. It was right after she returned from London. The singer became the talk of the town and received backlash for not going into quarantine after landing in India. Kanika was also accused of attending parties and meeting people after returning from the UK and not disclosing her travel history. Well the actress is back to work in Mumbai now and feels much calmer. However, back then the trolls had taken a toll not just on her but even her family.

In a chat with BT, Kanika opened up about the effect that the controversies had on her family. She shared, “It was traumatic for my family and my kids, who were in London. I didn’t get to see them for four months. They were getting calls and messages from people on social media, and some of them were downright nasty, even telling them to kill themselves. My parents were getting calls from people all over. They all dealt with the pressure.”

Kanika further stated, “Today, I am strong, but I was shaken by what I saw around me. Wrong stories and the eventual hatred hurt me a lot. It left me confused. I didn’t react for a long time because I didn’t know what all I should be reacting to. I knew that no one would listen to what I had to say.”
