Kanwaljeet Singh On The Rule Prevents Him From Shooting: Will Authorities Wake Up When A Senior Actor Commits Suicide?

Popular TV actor Kanwaljeet Singh has raised an objection to a guideline set in place by the government to resume shoots that prevents senior actors (above the age of 65)  from getting back to work. The rule has resulted in him losing out on an OTT show where he has now been replaced by a younger talent.

Speaking with a portal Film Information about that new guideline he asks, “So what do actors like me do? Hang up our boots? How can I be asked NOT to work? I had decided that I won’t travel daily from home to Mira Road and back but will rather stay there with my staff, for which I had even rented a place.”

The actor states that pople above the age of 65 who have no other means of livelihood need to work and have not options but to get back on set. He revealed that he had even rented an apartment near the set to make it convenient for himself to reach the sets but it all seems of no use now.

He continued, “I have nothing against the new actor or the channel. But this rule needs to be changed. Otherwise, what will the hundreds of actors like me do? We are fond of working, we love our work, how can the government stop us? Will the authorities wake up when one senior actor, in depression for being out of work, commits suicide?”

A strict adherence to guidelines has enabled several TV shows and now movies to resume shoot in Mumbai. Several new faces are set to replace the old ones in the new normal as many don’t yet feel it’s safe while the others simply aren’t allowed to return.
