Karan Johar has been one of the many Bollywood celebrities who were on the receiving end of several harsh comments in the nepotism debate that reignited after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. While the filmmaker hasn’t come out and said much on the matter he has reduced the number of people he follows on social media and reportedly also resigned from the MAMI board.

After reports of the filmmaker being upset have started pouring in, there were also reports suggesting that the filmmaker’s chat show Koffee with Karan might never return as well. More recently a report suggested that Karan has dropped out as a co-producer from Akshay Kumar starrer action extravaganza Sooryavanshi. The film was originally supposed to hit the theaters in March before the lockdown was announced and in now ready for a Diwali release.

The reports of Karan backing out are false confirms trade analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter. Karan Johar may be miffed but Akshay Kumar is also one of the very few people he continues to follow on Twitter while he has dropped nearly everyone else on Twitter.

Sooryavanshi is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty’s cop universe and the second he has produced with Karan Johar after his 2018 blockbuster Simmba starring Ranveer Singh.
