Bollywood is taking inspiration from Telugu films these more than it ever did. First the remake of Temper as Simmba and then, of course, Arjun Reddy, Telugu films seems to be a sure shot formula at the box-office and it is for the same reason that producers are not afraid to splurge big bucks to acquire the rights of these superhit films.

Karan Johar, who has been an early investor in this market, has now acquired the remake rights of Vijay Deverakonda’s latest release Dear Comrade. Vijay has currently become popular with the masses across the country thanks to the success of Kabir Singh and is also one of the most bankable stars in Telugu cinema right now.

Thus it is not surprising that KJo would be okay paying a whopping Rs. 6 crores for the Hindi rights of the film. Interestingly, this is the highest amount of money that has ever been paid for the right of a Telugu film or any South Indian films for that matter. Even Temper, which was a massive hit in Telugu was sold to Rohit Shetty for less than what Vijay’s Dear Comrade is getting. If rumors are to be believed, then the Dhadak lovebirds Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor might be cast in Vijay and Rashmika Mandana’s roles in the remake.
