Karan Patel Takes Dig At Kangana Ranaut: You Have Your Production House, Your Family Is Taking Care Of Your Business

If there was an anti-nepotism brigade in Bollywood then there’s no doubt Kangana Ranaut would the face of it. The actress has over the years has been vocal about her struggles in Bollywood as an outsider and now after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, she has once again been speaking about how he was ostracized by the Bollywood bigwigs.

TV actor Karan Patel, who also works with Ekta Kapoor’s production banner Balaji Telefilms like Sushant once did, has now spoken up about the whole nepotism debate and taken a sly dig at Kangana Ranaut. Karan says that even though the actress how has her own production banner, he didn’t ever see her offer a film to Sushant who was an outsider too and also a star in his own right. He also added that he hasn’t seen her launch any new directors or create opportunities for outsiders yet.

In a chat with ETimes Karan said people who were nowhere related to Sushant are now taking advantage of Sushant’s death and have turned the whole matter into a nepotism debate.

"When a person dies like this, there are people who are nowhere related to him but they jump into it and start creating stories. There are a lot of people. For eg, after whatever happened with Sushant, there were a few people who started talking about nepotism. And just see who has not tried to milk the situation. From Abhinav Kashyap to any other small time actor, everyone has jumped into it. And I see no reason for people to rant about nepotism,” he tell the publication.

He spoke indirectly of Kangana and said that like everyone she also started her own production house and instead of hiring and launching new talent she got her sister to manager it. He says, “You have your own production house and your family members, your sister is taking care of your business, why didn't you hire new people, an outsider and announce job interviews. Why didn't you hire someone who had an MBA degree to look after your production house. I am not saying what she did was wrong (by hiring her family). Today, if my father announces a business obviously he will ask me to look after it.”

Karan who has recently joined the cast of Kasautii Zindagii Kay as the new Mr. Bajaj says that the actress must also be raising questions about the production banners, studio and directors before signing a film so it’s unfair on her part to blow the nepotism trumpet and target big studios.
