Kareena Kapoor Admits Playing Poo Felt Stupid At The Time: “I Was Like, Karan What Are You Making Me Do?”

Kareena Kapoor has immortalized Poo her character from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and even nearly 20 years after the film people can’t help but talk about. Kareena was loved as the snooty yet vivacious Poo who brought glamour to every frame in this Karan Johar blockbuster.

Talking about the character so many years later in a podcast with BBC Asia Kareena spoke about how Poo connected with the youth and how there’s been no other character like that even so many years later.

Kareen said, "It's so strange that after 20 years, it's still coming back in a way, in 2020, because- as you said- it's pop culture. It's a character that somehow, I don't know how it just connected with the youth then and it connects with the youth now. If I really can say, actresses will always do different kinds of parts but you've never seen a character like Poo. You've never seen somebody who is so blasé and just speaks her mind."

As admitted that at the time playing Poo felt stupid and she even questioned Karan about it, “I was like, Karan what are you making me do?” But Karan had knew what he wanted and reassured her saying, “Listen, I am telling you, you have the smallest role in the film, you’re going to walk away with this film.”

Needless to say two decades later that she indeed became the most talked about person in the film and still continues to be.
