One of the most adored and talented divas of the Hindi film industry, Kareena Kapoor Khan aka Bebo recently completed 20 beautiful years in Bollywood. The actress began her journey in the year 2000 alongside Abhishek Bachchan with J. P. Dutta's war drama Refugee. They stole the audiences’ hearts with their performances and chemistry and went on to become two of the most sought-after artists of Hindi cinema. Celebrating the milestone on social media, Bebo had shared her first shot with fans.

Kareena was initially going to make her Bollywood debut opposite Hrithik Roshan with Rakesh Roshan's romantic thriller Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai earlier that year, but decided to opt out of the film. Talking about her decision in a recent chat with Rajeev Masand, Bebo shared, “Honestly, at that time nobody really calculated and nobody really knew whether it was my parents, my mother, or me, I don't know if anybody weighed pros and cons. It was just what I thought was right. There was never really that kind of calculation. I also believe in destiny; what's meant to happen is going to happen.”

She went on to add, “Of course, I went on to do so many films with Hrithik after that. We did like four or five films together, and I think that Refugee was just perfect. I got a chance to be slightly non-commercial. I somehow felt that it was more suited for me at that time.” Kareena and Hrithik shared the big screen in films such as Yaadein, Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and were undoubtedly one of the most adorable on-screen pairs.

It was earlier rumored that Kareena abandoned the project because of a misunderstanding between her mother Babita Kapoor and Rakesh Roshan, after which the filmmaker had decided to cast Ameesha Patel in the lead.
