Good music is incredibly important in any Bollywood film. May it be a romantic song, background music, a dance number or a heartbreak track, audience always remembers a good soundtrack. In fact, sometimes songs become even more famous than the film itself. Remember the steamy track Bheegey Hont Tere featuring Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat from Anurag Basu’s romantic thriller Murder? Just like the film, the song became a super hit and turned out to be a breakthrough for singer Kunal Ganjawala.

In a recent chat with Zoom, Kunal revealed that he was initially apprehensive about recording the hit track. He shared, “Mei yeh lyrics sunke bahut darr gaya tha. This was because of the words. I did not know who was in the film. I was not given enough time. I was called to sing quietly in a very hush fashion. I was very worried when I was writing those lyrics. I asked for a rehearsal but they said no rehearsal and slammed. I prayed and said man I did not even pray for anything. Why have you given me this? Why are you punishing me?”

He went on to share that he finished the song in a single take. Talking about how he spent only 20 minutes with the track, Kunal recalled, “From the time I came in the studio, wrote the lyrics and I just got one shot to record it. I was not the original choice for this song from the Vishesh Bhatt camp. I was not in anyone's purview except for Mr Anu Malik's purview. It was never my dream to be a playback singer. I had no idea that music would be a career as it was not an option. I did not know I could sing.”

After the success of Bheegey Hont Tere, Kunal went on to wow the audience with other chartbusters such as Kaal Dhamaal from Kaal, Raat Ke Dhai Baje of Kaminey, Dil Na Diya from Krrish and Salaam Namaste among many others.
