    Legendary actor Dilip Kumar passes away at 98

    Legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar passed away today in Mumbai at the age of 98 after suffering from age-related ailments. He was undergoing treatment in Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital after complaining of breathlessness for the second time in a month.

    Dilip Kumar had been admitted to the hospital back on June 6th and was discharged after treatment. However, he was taken to the hospital again on 30th June after complaining of breathlessness. His wife Saira Banu had said that while he was on ventilator support, his condition was stable. In a tweet, she had mentioned, "We are grateful for God's infinite mercy on Dilip Sahib that his health is improving. We are still in hospital and request your prayers and duas so that Insha'Allah he is healthy and discharged soon. Saira Banu Khan." The news of his death was confirmed by family friend Faisal Farooqi who tweeted the same from the actor's social media handle.

    Dilip Kumar, whose real name was Yusuf Khan, started his film journey back in the 40s, had been a part of the industry for decades. His filmography includes iconic films like Devdas(1955), Naya Daur(1957), Mughal-e-Azam(1960), Ganga Jamuna (1961), Kranti (1981), and Karma(1986). He was last seen in Qila in 1998. In 1966, Dilip Kumar married his co-star in films like Gopi, Sagina and Bairaag, actress Saira Banu. He had been a recipient of the Padma Vibhushan, the Padma Bhushan and the Dada Saheb Phalke award. He also received Pakistan's highest civilian honour, the Nishan-e-Imtiaz.
