Madhu Mantena shares update on Draupadi with Deepika Padukone after two years: "Working hard to put everything together"

Deepika Padukone is headed to re-tell the Mahabharat from Draupadi’s perspective in her ambitious upcoming project with Madhu Mantena. However, it has been two years since the actress announced the project and since then the project has fallen prey to several rumours, some even claiming that the project has been shelved.

Producer Madhu Mantena who is also working on making a film on Ramayan has shared a status update on Draupadi and confirmed that the project is very much happening.

Sharing a status update Madhu told Pinkvilla that his other project Ramayan will be made first after which Draupadi will follow. About Deepika’s film he added that the research work is going on for the project and the team has in fact pulled up enough material for a screenplay so far.

“Various drafts are being worked upon. Deepika is not making this film because she is an actor, she is making it because she and I strongly feel that it’s a great story that is to be told from Draupadi’s point of view. We are working hard to put everything together. These projects do take time, and we all know that. These are not small responsibilities, we are looking to create a world which has not been seen before,” Madhu tells the portal.

Interestingly, Deepika is also in talks for playing Sita in Madhu Mantena’s Ramayan for which Hrithik Roshan and Mahesh Babu are also said to be in talks for.
