Mahima Chaudhry and Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pardes has completed 23 years since its release. While the actress made a stunning debut in the Subhash Ghai film her experience with the director soon after the project was disturbing. Dropping a major truth bomb Mahima revealed that she was bullied by the filmmaker and even lost out on projects because of the filmmaker.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, the Pardes actress revealed that Subhash Ghai even released ads in magazines asking producers wanting to cast her to go through him. “I was bullied by Mr. Subhash Ghai. He even took me to the court and wanted me to cancel my first show. It was quite stressful. He sent a message to all the producers that nobody should work with me! If you pick up one of the issues of Trade Guide magazine in 1998 or 1999, there was an ad that he had given which stated that if anybody wanted to work with me, that person would have to contact him. Otherwise, it would be a breach of contract. However, there was no such contract which said that I had to seek his permission,” she tells.

The actress remembers how only Salman Khan, Rajkumar Santoshi, David Dhawan and Sanjay Dutt extended support to her.

Not only this, but the actress also remembered how the whole fiasco led to her losing out Ram Gopal Varma’s Satya to Urmila Matondkar. The actress said she was replaced in what could have been her second movie without notice despite having taken the signing amount and even finalizing her look. She told the portal, “He didn’t even have the decency to call me or my manager and inform me about the reality. I learnt from the press that he had begun shooting without me.”

Mahima’s second Bollywood film then became Ajay Devgn starrer Dil Kya Kare which released in 1999.
