Maidaan: Ajay Devgn Starrer Will Have International Football Players, Reveals Director Amit Sharma

Maidaan has been one of those films which the audiences have been eagerly looking forward to for a long time. The film was announced back in 2019 and the shoot has been getting delayed continuously for unavoidable reasons. It has last stalled after director Amit Sharma tested positive for the novel virus. Whether it will be able to release at its scheduled time in Dusshera might be still uncertain, however, Amit Sharma is leaving no stones unturned to make it one of the best films in the industry.

In a recent interview, the director who had earlier helmed Badhaai Ho revealed that he is bringing in International Football players for the film. Talking to Spotboye, Amit said, “The idea is to do my best. We have invited football players from all across the world to come and play in our matches for Maidaan: Japan, South Korea, France, Thailand… there is some problem getting Australian players to come to India because the country is under lockdown. In fact, the players from Thailand are already here. They have been waiting for me to recover from COVID. We start shooting with them on April 4. We will then go on to shoot matches with the other countries with a break between every match. It is a tough schedule. We were supposed to start shooting on March 16. But then who we would have thought I would be felled with COVID like this?”

Sounds interesting already, isn't it? In the film, Ajay Devgn will double up as football coach Syed Abdul Rahim who heralded the golden era of Indian football!
