Mallika Dua Slams Akshay Kumar For Making An Inappropriate And Sexist Comment Against Her!

Comedian Mallika Dua, and her father, veteran journalist Vinod Dua, lashed out against actor Akshay Kumar on social media on Wednesday. The anger was in response to an inappropriate, sexist comment Akshay allegedly made against Mallika last month while shooting for the TV show, The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, which Akshay is a judge of. The comment, which was edited out from the telecast of the episode, can be seen in a video that has mysteriously leaked after Mallika was sacked from the show as a mentor, for poor audience ratings.

Vinod Dua posted the video on his Facebook page, where Akshay is seen talking to Mallika as she rings a big bell. “Mallikaji aap bell bajao, main apko bajata hoon,” he is heard saying in the video. In his post, Vinod wrote: “I am going to screw this cretin Akshay Kumar for telling his co worker Mallika Dua that “aap bell bajao main aap ko bajata hun” This is his sense of humor and language. Star Plus..wake up..(sic)”.

Mallika, who is known for her viral comic videos on social media, tweeted: “So, I want humor to be limitless. I also don’t want to be uncomfortable at my work place :( The lines are blurred. Thoughts?”

However, according to industry insiders, the video has been leaked for Mallika to settle her scores with the TV channel for firing her. “This shoot happened weeks ago. Why did Mallika not say anything all this while? Why take a statement out of context and make an issue out of it now?,” asks a source, not wanting to be identified.

Trade analyst Amul Mohan says, “I think this is just a case of sour grapes because the mentors were shown the door. This happened while shooting and I am sure they shot this about 10- 15 days ago. Then making this noise right now only shows that this is being done because she was fired. The main factor is that none of these guys is television friendly because they have a set market on the web or some other personal video streaming platform, where there is no censorship.”

Says another industry insider, “Akshay’s comment was indeed off-colour. But look at the vulgar abuses Mallika herself has given in all her popular viral videos. She can’t be having double standards about sexism. If what Akshay said to Mallika is a pun considered offensive, then how is Mallika’s father telling Akshay that he will screw him any less offensive? The entire attitude about vulgarity being passed off as humour needs to change.” The actor, and his spokesperson, had not commented on the issue at the time of filing the story.

Trade analyst Atul Mohan says, “ When your daughter does such things on stage, what do you have to say about that? She herself is known for doing such things. These days if you compliment someone, no one notices but the moment you say something negative, it spreads like wildfire.”

Mallika, along with Zakir Khan and Hussain Dalal, was reportedly fired earlier this month. The three have been replaced as mentors by filmmaker Sajid Khan and actor Shreyas Talpade last week.

Akshay could not be reached for a comment.
