Chandro Tomar (87) started her tryst with shooting when her granddaughter Shefali wanted to go the nearby Johri Rifle Club but was too shy to go alone. She went to the club with her and when Shefali was unable to load the heavy rifle, she helped her out and took a shot just for fun. Her very first shot straight hit the bull’s eye and the shooting coach after seeing her natural skill persuaded her to pursue shooting.

Story of Prakashi Tomar is almost similar. She also fired her first shot by accident when she took her daughter Seema Tomar joined the same Johri Rifle Club. In fact, Prakashi took up shooting to encourage her daughter Seema who was hesitant to pursue it.
