The Olympics fever has taken over the nation. Several Bollywood stars have been cheering for the Indian contingent at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 but it seems that a few of them got a little to heady with excitement.

Actors Bhumi Pednekar, Vatsal Seth and Milind Sonam mistook Indian wrestler Priya Malik’s win at the World Cadet Wrestling Championship which is held in Budapest, Hungary to be an Olympics gold medal and took to social media celebrating. Their hearts were definitely in the right places cheering for Priya but just the wrong event.

Bhumi in Instagram stories shared a picture of Priya’s winning moment from the World Wrestling Championship and wrote, “Baby gold gold gold gold gold gold #PriyaMalik #tokoyoolympics #olympics2021.”

Milind Soman too posted a tweet celebrating it as an Olympics win but on releasing his mistake deleted the tweet. In his original tweet the actor had written, “Thank you Priya Malik! #gold #TokoyoOlympics #wrestling welcome to Mt Olympus.”

In a fresh tweet, he clarified, “Sorry, should have checked before my earlier tweet, but was too overcome with joy Priya Malik won Gold at the World wrestling Championships ! Onwards and upwards.”

Vatsal too made a similar error on Twitter congratulating Priya on an Olympics gold and then quickly added in another tweet, “Sorry not Olympics … but we are still super proud of you.”

Needless to say some trolling ensued after these mistaken tweets and posts.
