In a box office ruled Bollywood, actors very often have to endure an equal amount of failure as they do success. While many find it easy to carry success, enduring failure is not everyone’s cup of tea. In the same vein, Bollywood actor Mohnish Bahl admitted that after a string of flops before Maine Pyaar Kiya he had given up on his Bollywood dreams and was already working on becoming a pilot.

Mohnish who played the villain the film recalls he had six flops to his name as of 1989. The actor in an interview with Times of India recalls, "By the time I got 'Maine Pyar Kiya', not only had I started my career, but also ended it. I thought I was finished after six flops and decided to become a pilot."

Revealing how Maine Pyar Kiya happened when he had mentally moved on and was working on obtaining his aviation license Mohnish said that he had become friends with Salman Khan who was looking to debut in films and he recommended his name.

But that was not all for the actor who was seriously debating switching gears in his career, Mohnish recalled how after auditioning for the part the makers had apprehensions about casting him in a negative role and it wasn’t because he wasn’t good.

Recalling his audition Mohnish said, “After the test, Raj Babuji came up to me and said, 'We'd like to cast you in this role, but aap Nutanji ke bete hain aur hum unko kya bolenge about casting you in a villain's role?' I assured them that I had her blessings, but he was still apprehensive. I went back and told my mother that I should be getting films because of her and not losing them!”

Well, the film not only gave Mohnish a new lease of life in Bollywood and obliterated doubts about his talent but also marked his long association with Rajshri films which continues to date.
