Mrunal Thakur Was Shown The Exit At An Award Show Unlike A Star Kid, Actress Speaks About Discrimination

Nepotism exists in Bollywood and there’s no denying the fact. Of late though the vendetta against the practice has hit the ceiling and it’s all anyone can talk about when referring to the industry in current times. Actress Mrunal Thakur who transitioned from TV to Bollywood with Hrithik Roshan Starrer Super 30 in 2019 says she has also faced the discrimination that comes with the practice in a glaring way.

The actress recalled an incident where she was shown the exit soon after she received her award on stage, unlike a star kid who was treated differently.

She tells Pinkvilla about the incident, "It happened to me at an Awards ceremony. I was getting the Critics Best Actress award for my film and after I went on stage, I was told, 'Ma'am, that's the exit!' Whereas at the same ceremony, when a starkid went up, they literally were shoving the mic in her face."

The actress also said that while she was in the middle of giving a byte to the media reports rushed away as soon as a star kid made her way onto the red carpet.

Despite the obvious difference in treatment meted out to her the actress says she doesn’t blame star kids for such thing as it is the audience that wants to see them. She adds, "It's not just the industry, it's also the audience and the media, no? After all, this is what the audience wants to see which is why the media is also giving it to them.”
