    National Cancer Awareness Day: Neetu Kapoor Recalls Rishi Kapoor Was In Denial For 4-5 Months After He Was Diagnosed With Cancer

    Bollywood has seen so many celebs leaving fans devastated with the news of their cancer diagnosis in recent times. Rishi Kapoor, Sonali Bendre, Tahira Kashyap and Rakesh Roshan however taught millions of their followers how to keep faith and never let cancer take more from you than it already has. While everyone prayed for their recovery, they underwent recovery with the utmost determination to get back stronger. On National Cancer Awareness Day today, Neetu Kapoor relived the days when Rishi Kapoor, her husband was diagnosed with cancer and how the news left her and her family devastated.

    Speaking to Times Now in an interview, Neetu spoke about how Rishi Kapoor had a tough time coming to terms with the illness and said that he was in fact in denial. “Where he (Rishi) is concerned, he was in denial. For 4-5 months, he was not himself. I think when you start accepting that this is your issue, then you are stronger. I feel he is much stronger for the past, maybe 5-6 months.”

    The couple was in New York for nearly a year where the veteran actor was getting treated. She went on to add that to her it felt like having a third child as she took care of his well-being. “I used to play tricks around him, talk to the nurse about some restaurant and some good dish they have and then he would chip in saying ‘really?, ok let us try that.” 


    There is no doubt that Bollywood was never far behind in wishing Rishi Kapoor well and whenever any of the celebs were in U.S. they ensured they paid him a visit and checked in on his health. While that was uplifting spirits for them in their difficult times, Neetu Kapoor who shared pictures and updates of the actor’s recovery frequently on social media also unknowingly gave hope to several others suffering to get though the difficult times.

    Narrating an incident from the hospital Rishi Kapoor was admitted in she recalled, “I used to post the pictures on his Instagram just to keep the positivity going. I never put pictures where he was down and out. Once, I was waiting for the elevator in the hospital when he (Rishi) was admitted and a young boy came and told me ‘my father is going through the same thing and him was very depressed, we kept showing him your pictures and said see Rishi Ji is so happy and he is getting treated and those pictures made him come here and he wants to go through the treatment. I feel so nice that I helped somebody gain confidence that it can be dealt with.”


    Rishi Kapoor is now back in India and his well wishers couldn’t be happier about his recovery from deadly disease.
