    Uttrakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat's comment on women wearing ripped jeans and how it is impacting society negatively hasn’t exactly gone down well with several women across the country. The politician saying that showing ‘bare knees’ and ‘looking like rich kids’ are values which are now being imparted at home suggesting that women following this fashion trend set a bad example.

    The CM’s remarks saw a huge backlash on social media and several celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda reacted to it. In an Instagram story, Navya reacted to the Uttrakhand CM’s remarks and wrote, “Change your mentality before changing our clothes because the only thing shocking here is the message comments like this send to society.”

    She also posted a picture in ripped jeans and captioned it, “I’ll wear my ripped jeans. Thank you. And I’ll wear them proudly.”

    The comment has started a whole trend on Twitter where women are proudly sharing pictures in their ripped denims. #RippedJeansTwitter has been trending on social media and even actress Gul Panang joined in simply writing **Takes out ripped jeans** and then posted a photo of herself in one.

    The CM’s comments were made during a State Commission for Protection of Child Rights workshop. The politician made the comment recalling how he met a woman during a flight with two kids who wore ripped jeans and said she ran an NGO. He questioned what values would such women impart in society.
