Nawazuddin Siddiqui Reveals Having An Inferiority Complex; Says ‘I Spent A Lot Of Time Trying To Make My Skin Fairer’

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is undoubtedly one of the most talented and versatile actors of our Hindi film industry. He shifts from one character to another beautifully like a chameleon and wins the audiences’ heart each and every time he shines on-screen. Well, Nawaz is currently on cloud nine thanks to all the love and appreciation received by his character Inspector Jatil Yadav in Netflix’s latest crime drama Raat Akeli Hai. The actor has played the role of a male chauvinistic cop, who has low confidence due to his skin tone.

In a recent chat with Cinema Express, Nawaz revealed that he used to have an inferiority complex in real life too because of his skin tone. He shared, “I too grew up applying these fairness creams, expecting miraculous results. In fact, I remember that once, I didn’t even realise that the cream I was using wasn’t Fair and Lovely, but some fake called Fare and Lovely. I spent a lot of time trying to make my skin fairer.”

Talking about how he dealt with the same, the actor stated, “In mainstream Bollywood cinema, is there any really black-looking actor, male or female? I had an inferiority complex at first. But I guess the good thing is, I realised that since I couldn’t do anything about my face, I would be better served focusing on my craft. I knew I was nothing when it came to my personality or my looks. It took some time to come out of that trauma, but I’m glad I made that decision.”
