A sentence we were desperate to utter but never thought would actually end up saying is finally being said. Yes, the Night King is no more. After a heart stopping war sequence that almost had us believe that death would win the war against the living, it was finally Arya’s fatal knife-drop technique that put an end to the biggest villain of Game of Thrones.

But in our excitement and exuberance, we forgot that with the Night King gone, there are certain questions that will remain unanswered forever. Some looming as large as the castle of Winterfell, some relatively smaller, here are the questions whose answers are gone with Night King forever.

Ever since his emergence, we have wondered who was Night King before he started heading the Army Of The Dead. Multiple theories floated around that claimed Night King is somehow related to Bran or in fact a Targaryen. The Children of the Forest once showed Bran how he became the Night King, but even that does not shed any light on who Night King was before dying and becoming a White Walker.

    What was his purpose?

The world of Westeros has existed for thousands of years and so has the Night King and the Army of the Dead. So, why now? Was he aware of the current divisive political turmoil of Westeros and thought this to be a good opportunity or there were other reasons. Apart from the ‘plot told him to’ we have no answer to this question.

Ok, this might be a little far-fetched, but remember the Old Nan telling the story of White Walkers to Bran in the first season. Everything else she said turned out to be true apart from the part about ice-spiders? Even if it was ice-lizard, we would have considered the dragon, but where are the ice-spiders? For a show that is so big on Easter eggs, we are not really sure what happened here.

We could not be more thrilled with the total badass way that Arya killed Night King. But if she was the one to kill Night King finally, why did we see Jon battling him thrice. It was almost made evident that Jon has some connection with the Night King? Did makers just forget that or are we getting wrong!
