Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Chhichhore’ Starring Sushant Singh Rajput Is 10th Most Successful Film According To Aamir Khan’s Formula

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput died after he hanged himself on 14th June, ’20, Sunday at his Mumbai apartment. No one could believe once the news of his death spread like wildfire. According to media reports, the actor was suffering from clinical depression and was also being treated for the condition at the Hinduja Hospital. However, since the past few months reportedly, the actor had stopped taking his medications and his condition steadily declined. Sushant’s dwindling career supposedly egged him to take this extreme step. The actor was just 34 years old.

Sushant was last seen on the big screen in Nitesh Tiwari’s Chhichhore, the movie collected over Rs 153 crore at the box office, it became the actor’s top grosser ever. But did you know, it is the tenth most successful Hindi film of all time according to Aamir Khan’s box-office formula.

The formula involves evaluating a film’s success by comparing its weekend collection with its lifetime collection. The lifetime collection is divided by the weekend collection and the higher the ‘Weekend to Lifetime Multiple’ is, the better the response to the film. For example, Aamir’s 2009 film 3 Idiots had collected Rs 200 crores in its lifetime, whereas its weekend collection stood at Rs 40 crore. 200 crores divided by 40 crores, which is ‘Weekend to Lifetime Multiple’ of 5, indicates strong content as the audience, possibly due to the word of mouth, went to watch the film in the subsequent weeks.
