Nithya Menen Talks About Comparisons Between The Iron Lady And Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi

Bollywood is smitten by biographical dramas and movie lovers thoroughly enjoy watching them. Well fans are currently expecting two very interesting biopics, both based on the life of late actress and politician J. Jayalalithaa. While Kangana Ranaut will be seen playing the role of Tamil Nadu’s former CM in A. L. Vijay’s much-awaited Thalaivi, South actress Nithya Menen will be portraying Jayalalithaa’s character in A Priyadarshini’s directorial, The Iron Lady. Since the main topic of the films is similar, fans obviously have been comparing the projects and have been debating about which will do better on the big screen.

In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, Nithya opened up about the same and shared, “I asked the director when I got to know about it that what she thinks as another film is coming up. I asked, 'do you still want to do this?' but she wanted to do it for a very personal reason and she was extremely fond of her (Jayalalithaa). She was close to her, had interacted with her a couple of times and knows about her personally. She told me whoever wants to do it, let them...we will also make one and I think that's a great way to look at it. It is okay, not a big deal.”

The actress went on to add, “The way our film is structured is slightly different from what she told me. As long as the person is not competitive or feels that somebody else is also doing a film and is focused on their own film, that is important.”

Nithya is currently winning hearts as Abha Sabharwal in Amazon Prime Video’s latest web series Breathe: Into The Shadows. Also featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Amit Sadh, the psychological thriller follows the struggles of a couple who do everything they can to get their missing daughter back from the shadows.
