Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has formally given up their titles as senior members of the royal family on 31 March and now begins a new chapter in their lives about which there’s a lot of speculation but not much else is know. While it is confirmed that the former royal couple will be leading this new life outside of Britain and in Meghan’s native place Los Angeles, California where they have arrived and are presently living with their 10-month-old baby Archie, not being royals certainly means the Susexes being deprived of several perks that members of the royal family enjoy.

While we are sure that the couple’s decision to step back was well thought through here are some of the perks that have not transcended into their new lives that start now.

The Frogmore Cottage –  Being Royals the couple enjoyed a stay at the Frogmore Cottage at Windsor, while the couple will reportedly still stay there whenever they visit Britain, they will have to reimburse the £ 3 million spent on the refurbishments made to the property. While all the staff at the house has now been relieved of their duties, if Meghan and Harry need help they will have to foot the bill for the staff they hire.

No Royal Security – The senior royals such a Prince Harry enjoyed personal security for himself, Meghan and Archie from the Scotland Yard which so far has been paid for by the British government. The couple has now forfeited rights to all such protection and is said to already be shortlisting high profile security agencies in America which would cost them an exorbitant amount of money.

No Access To The Queen’s Treasured Jewels And Clothing Allowance  – Meghan Markle as the Duchess of Sussex was entitled to access the Queen's collection of jewels which included pricey tiaras such as the one she wore on her wedding to Prince Harry. Another perk that would be lost is her access to the clothing allowance that the Royals get for appearances they make in the Queen’s name.

Prince Harry To No Longer Hold His Military Titles – Alongside the official duties and honors, Prince Harry now no longer hold the prestigious military titles that he worked so hard to earn. As a Royal he has served in the military for 10 years and held titles including Captain General of Royal Marines, Honorary Air Commandant, RAF Honington and Commodore in Chief, Small Ships and Diving, Royal Naval Command. That also means he would no longer be able to wear his military uniform will all the medals and embellishments.

Royal Tours and Representing the Queen – As a Duke a big part of Prince Harry's duties as a Royal was to represent the Queen in various Commonwealth countries which her Majesty is the head of. The couple is no longer to discharge any royal duty of any nature and even when they have pledged support to the Commonwealth after their resignation, their work will no longer be in the name of the Crown.

No Access To The Sovereign Grant – As Meghan and Prince Harry have now foregone their titles and shut their offices at the Buckingham Palace, they will no longer be entitled to the Sovereign Grant that is made up of the taxpayers’ money to support the royal family. The arrangement has so far kept them from working as professionals but the couple will now have to earn to keep up their lavish lifestyle.

The couple signed off from their official Instagram account as the Royals thanking the community for their support. It how has to be seen what they make of their new life as ex royals which although makes life less complex for them but adds a great share of responsibilities.
