Not Just Bala And Ujda Chaman, These Bollywood Twin Films Also Stepped On Each Other’s Toes

If you check any entertainment website these days, the entries are fraught with the Bala and the Ujda Chaman controversy. While the Sunny Singh starrer that claims to be the original and the real story of the ‘takla’ has already released, the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer is soon to hit the theatres. Both films have the issue of premature balding in its core and thus it is understandable where the controversies are emanating from.

However, this is hardly the first time when a topic has got somewhat viral in Bollywood and two or more films around the same topic have popped up in a matter of a few months. Interestingly, in some cases, both have succeded and in some cases, both have failed, but here are the ones we are talking about.

Legends of Bhagat Singh, 23rd March 1931: Shaheed, Shaheed-E-Azam

Bhagat Singh is a national hero and an inspiring figure thus it is hardly unusual that multiple people would make a film on this son of the soil. However, the year of 2002 will be remembered as the year when Bollywood got obsessed with Bhagat Singh. Ajay Devgn starrer Legends of Bhagat Singh directly clashed with Bobby Deol starrer 23rd March 1931: Shaheed on 7th June 2002, Sonu Sood starrer Shaheed-E-Azam also released somewhere around the same time.

    Mom, Maatr, Bhumi

Increased rape and atrocities against women have become an unfortunates reality and it is only understandable that Bollywood would want to come up with stories that sensitize the country about against the heinous crime. However, it is hard to understand if it was a co-incident that Maatr, Mom And Bhoomi all came out in a matter of few months and all of them had the story of parents seeking revenge and punishing monsters who raped their young daughters. The Raveena Tandon starrer Maatr came out on 21st April, the Sridevi Mom starrer came out on 7th July and Sanjay Dutt’s Bhoomi came out in 22 September all in 2017.

    Lucknow Central and Qaidi Band

It is strange that the same inspiration struck two people at same time and none of them inspired audience to come to the theatres. We are talking about Qaidi Band which released on 25th August, 2017 and Farhan Akhtar starrer Lucknow Central which released on 15th September 2017. Both the film revolved around musically inclined jail inmates and how they use music as a tool of expression and freedom in their life of captivity.
