That very day Rishi elder brother Randhir Kapoor had confirmed the news too. As morbid as it may sound the day was exactly one year ago today – April 30 2019. Rahul Rawail had made a Facebook post along with a picture of him and Rishi Kapoor in the actor’s New York apartment. “RISHI KAPOOR (CHINTU) is CANCER FREE!!!!” his post had rejoiced.

Later in a conversation with Hindustan Times, he had also confirmed, “Yes, Rishi is absolutely cancer free, now. I haven’t met him but spoke to him over the phone. He called me in the morning [of Apr 30] and gave me the [good] news that he has totally recovered from cancer. There’s just a small follow up and procedure that he needs to get done to ensure that there is no recurrence anytime. So, that’s all that is left now.”

Exactly one year later we have lost the actor today to the disease. Rishi Kapoor was in the hospital after he had complained of breathing difficulties with wife Neetu Kapoor by his side and this morning the news of his passing shocked the nation.
