One Year Of Kabir Singh: Shahid Kapoor Thanks Fans For Understanding The Complex, Conflicted Character

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Kabir Singh was one of the most successful films of 2019. Featuring the incredibly versatile Shahid Kapoor and the very talented Kiara Advani, it follows the love story of two medical students, Kabir and Preeti, who are poles apart. However, when they come together they somehow complete each other beautifully. Things start going downhill when Preeti gets married to someone else and Kabir takes the path to self-destruction, wandering into a world of alcohol and drugs.

The film clocked in a year on 21^st June and celebrating the special milestone, Shahid took to his social media handle to thank fans. Along with stills from the film and behind the scene pictures from the set, the actor wrote: “To all those who gave so much overwhelming love to such a complex, conflicted character. Thank you. #kabirsingh was never just a film to me.. it was an emotional arc that was raw.. bare.. unabashed .. honest .. fearless .. REAL!! In a time where people are quick to judge (others not themselves ) you understood him. You understood our interpretation of the angst of a broken heart. This one will always be special. So so special.”

The intense romantic drama received a lot of love from fans, but it was also criticized for glamorizing misogyny and toxic masculinity. Nevertheless, Shahid’s phenomenal performance won our hearts. Acting is not an easy craft and it gets more difficult when you portray a character which is so different from your real personality. But Shahid pulled it off and looked absolutely effortless.
