Oscars 2020: Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy Becomes India’s Official Entry!

Gully Boy has undoubtedly been one of the best films of 2019. The film, that had been directed by Zoya Akhtar and is based on the lives of Mumbai’s rappers Divine and Naezy Ba, enjoyed both commercial and critical success. Even though the film had a niche appeal, thanks to the actors, it attracted the mass as well. And now, there is one more feather that has been added to its cap!

The film has become India’s official entry for the 92^nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category, earlier known as Best Foreign Language Film category.

Yes you read that right. The film has earned itself a place in the Oscars 2020 and we really hope that this time, it also gets shortlisted!

Gully Boy was a coming-of-age drama that starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead. The film was based on the lives of Divine and Naezy and also starred actors like Vijay Raaz, Amrutha Subhas, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Kalki Koechlin. The film had earned rave reviews and with Ranveer putting his 100 perecent and doubling up as a rapper with full enthusiasm, it had a mass appeal. The film crossed the 100 crore mark as well!
