    Pandit Jasraj was one of the most celebrated classical vocalists, who passed away at the age of 90 due to a cardiac arrest. The music legend was in the US when he breathed his last.  

    Since the news of his passing was made public, all of Bollywood sank into deep mourning. Shankar Mahadevan, AR Rahman, Vishal Dadlani, and many others took to their social media to condole the loss of the music legend.  

    Actress Kangana Ranaut also expressed grief at the death of the legend, she wrote, “In every challenging situation in life where I feel unsure and overwhelmed I listen to this, he may not know what his voice means to me but my dream of meeting him some day lies shattered today #PanditJasraj 

    Shankar Mahadevan took to his official Twitter handle to mourn the loss too. He wrote, “Devastated after hearing the news that Sangeet marthand pandit Jasraj has moved on to the next dimension . A big void in the world of Indian Classical music . His music will live on in this planet

    Pandit Jasraj was born in the year 1930. In his oeuvre of 8 decades, there were umpteen stage performances that he was part of and the most notable ones among them were converted into music albums. He also arenowned music teacher and he taught music in many countries and several of his students also became very well-known musicians.

    During his lifetime, he has been a recipient of many coveted awards. He received Padma Shri - India's fourth highest civilian award - in 1975; Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987 and Padma Bhushan in 1999. In the year 2000, the government of India conferred him with Padma Vibhushan, which happens to be the second highest civilian honour in the country.
