Panipat: Afghan Embassy Writes To Indian Government Over Possible Misrepresentation Of Ahmad Shah Abdali

Just two days ago, Ashutosh Gowarikar’s Panipat trailer hit the internet. The film will see Arjun Kapoor in the role of the Marathi warrior Sadashiv Rao Bhau and Sanjay Dutt as Ahmad Shah Abdali. Abdali was the founder of the Durrani empire. Dutt’s look very very powerful and it garnered a lot of appreciation from all the corners of the country and at the same time, the Afghanis were left worried.

They have their apprehensions over the possible misrepresentation of Abdali’s character and they, therefore, want to meet the Information and Broadcasting  Minister Prakash Javadekar. They had also written to the Ministry Of External Affairs.

A part of the letter reads, “Since the film is related to former Afghan emperor Ahmad Shah Abdali, any insensitive/ distorted depiction of his character might provoke emotions of Afghans which could be unfairly exploited by others to adversely affect the trust and harmony that exists so well among the people of two countries.”

Now with the Afghanistan and India ties at stake, the government of India too is expected to respond to the letter and head for a discussion to take note of the worries listed by the Afghan embassy.
