Parineeti Chopra Starrer Saina Nehwal Biopic To Skip Theatres And Release Directly On Digital?

Parineeti Chopra two big films, The Girl On The Train and the Saina Nehwal biopic, are both set to release on digital instead of heading to theatres. While the makers of A Girl On The Train have already announced the film’s arrival on Netflix, reports are now doing the rounds that Parineeti much await portrayal of celebrated badminton player Saina Nehwal might also head to OTT.

The decision apparently is yet to be taken but owning to the reduced occupancy of theatres owning to the ongoing pandemic situation the makers seem inclined to release the Saina digitally. A Mid Day report quotes a trade source claiming, “Saina was slated to hit theatres last summer, but the plans came to a halt because of the pandemic. Now, the makers have again begun discussions about its release. Considering theatres are functioning at 50% occupancy, they are considering an OTT release. A final call has yet to be taken.”

Moreover, actor Shubhrajyoti Barat who stars in the film as Saina’s father satted that the film is anticipated to release in the next few months but the decision to release the film directly online is best left with the producers.

The film Saina has been directed by Amol Gupte and is produced by Bhushan Kumar.
