Parineeti Chopra Was The First Choice For Piku Before Deepika Padukone, Says She Never Really Turned Down The Film

In recent years, we have read many stories of films where actors are replaced by one another due to many reasons like Katrina Kaif replaced Priyanka Chopra in Bharat, Shraddha Kapoor replaced Katrina Kaif in Street Dancer 3D and in the latest,  Parineeti Chopra revealed that she was the first choice for Shoojit Sircar's Piku. Yes, you heard that right.

During a recent episode of Neha Dhupia’s chat show  BFF’s with Vogue. Parineeti made an appearance on the show with her longtime BFF and ace tennis player, Sania Mirza. The Namaste England actress revealed that she regrets not being a part of Shoojit Sircar’s Piku in 2015 where she was offered the role as the female lead before Deepika. The Golmal Again actress went on to say that things didn’t turn out in her favor and stated, "I didn’t really turn down the film. There was confusion. I was going to do another film at the same time and then that film also didn’t happen, so it was my loss”. Parineeti next would be seen in Jabriya Jodi opposite Siddharth Malhotra and the film is set to release on August 2, 2019. The actress is also preparing herself for the biopic on badminton player Saina Nehwal.

Just after Piku released it became a super hit. There is no doubt that Deepika did full justice to her character and was loved by all. Deepika also told IANS in an interview that some fans were so amazed by her performance as a loving daughter that they wanted to adopt her.

 “I think we had all thought that it's a sweet film and that people will connect with it, but none of us had expected it to become this big. It's gone beyond our own control. The biggest compliment for me has been... I know it may sound funny, but a lot of people want to adopt me. Multiple people have told me that they want to adopt me after watching Piku, and that's very overwhelming," the actress had said in 2015.

Piku was directed by Shoojit Sircar in 2015 and it is a heart-warming father-daughter tale, featuring the superstar of all times Amitabh Bachchan who is seen playing as Deepika's on-screen father. The chemistry between both of them is shown real, relatable, and soothing despite all the arguments. It also featured Irfan Khan in a splendid role which he did full justice to.
