Filmmaker Pavan Kirpalani is currently soaring high on the success of his recently released film Bhoot Police. Starring Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead, the horror comedy follows the story of two tantric brothers-- while one believes that it is his job to protect mankind, the other thinks it is nothing more than a way of earning money from a segment of the public that is superstitious. Well, Kirpalani made his debut in the Hindi film industry in 2011 with Ragini MMS. But he actually wanted to begin his career with this particular genre, which is being loved by the audience.

In a recent interview with Mid Day, he revealed that he wanted to make a horror comedy much before it became a viable genre. He was quoted saying, “The first film I ever wrote, as an aspiring filmmaker, was Bhoot Police. Before Ragini MMS, I had made another horror comedy that got shelved because of the recession then. If things had gone according to the plan, Bhoot Police would have been made a decade ago.”

He was trying to make the film for almost a decade and went to Saif with the concept years ago! Kirpalani shared, “I met Saif with this idea about four to five years ago. I knew this character was tailor-made for him, and he realised it too. Earlier, we had other actors, but we had to recast because of date [issues]. Arjun has brought a lot to the table.”

In an earlier interview, co-producer Ramesh Taurani had confirmed the possibility of a sequel. Well, the director has now revealed that Bhoot Police was always written as a franchise and the audience can expect ‘many parts’. Now that’s exciting!
