One of the most interesting things about Game of Thrones have always been the Easter Eggs that the makers cleverly and generously distribute in the episode. For the recent episode that premiered on Easter Sunday it was only fitting that Game of Thrones served us some Easter Eggs and this time they dropped a major one.

In the scene where Brienne, Podrick, Tormund and Ser Davos Seaworth are drinking, Tyrion asks everyone to sing a song, but is only Podrick who obliges. The song he sings is called Jenny’s Song and has a lot of significane in the books written by George R.R. Martin.

The lyrics of the song goes something like “High in the halls of the kings who are gone, Jenny would dance with her ghosts. The ones she had lost and the ones she had found. The ones who had loved her the most.”

There is also a very interesting story about the said Jenny that the song is talking about. The song talks about Jenny of Oldstones who Duncan Targaryen fell in love with. Duncan was actually the heir to Iron Throne, but gave up the Throne to be with his love. And it was then that Aerys Targaryen II ascended the throne. Essentially, the song tells story of a Targaryen giving up the throne for love.

It becomes pertinent because destiny has now brought Jon and Daenerys in the same place. Now that it is clear that Jon and Daenerys are both Targaryens and they are obviously in love, history will have to repeat itself and one Targaryen will have to give up the throne in the name of love.

While the Iron Throne has always been Daenerys’ destiny, Jon has basically stumbled upon Iron Throne by accident so it is almost impossible to predict that who will make the ultimate sacrifice in the name of love.  But one thing is confirmed that the history of Jenny’s song will be repeated by one Targaryen.
