Prabhu Deva Doesn't Believe Wanted Revived Salman Khan's Career, Has This To Say About Their Debut Collaboration

Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai marks Salman Khan and Prabhu Deva’s third collaboration in Bollywood. Their first film together, Wanted, which released in 2009 was a box office blockbuster that is widely believed to have turned Salman Khan’s career around for good.

The choreographer turned filmmaker, however, debunked such beliefs in a recent interview while he spoke about Radhe. Prabhu Deva said that Salman was a superstar long before they collaborated on Wanted together.

“He was a big superstar when we started working on Wanted. I don’t believe that Wanted revived his career, in fact, Boney (Kapoor, producer) sir and Salman sir gave my career in Bollywood a boost,” he told Times of India in an interview.

Prabhu Deva went on to direct Salman in Dabangg 3, nine years later, and now have come together again for Radhe.

Their latest offering ever since it was announced was touted to be a sequel to Wanted. Salman Khan, however, recently in a press conference ended all such speculations and promised that the similarity ended with the one ‘commitment’ dialogue from the film that features in Radhe.

Talking about Radhe skipping the box office to arrive on OTT during the pandemic, Prabhudeva said, “We can’t really venture out or spend time with our friends, so I feel that films like Radhe... can work as a stressbuster in such a scenario. We had hoped that it would release in theatres here as well because it was envisioned as a film meant for the big screen. Unfortunately, the situation is such that it will largely be a digital release.”
