    Priyadarshan Disappointed With Hungama 2's OTT Release Says, "It Is Not Meant For People To Watch Alone At Home"

    Digital film releases might be fast becoming the popular choice for film producers in the absence of theatres but no one said that the decision has to make the makers of the film happy. Hungama 2 director Priyadarshan has expressed his disappointment over his film heading to OTT as he returns with a Bollywood film after a gap of eight years.

    An increasing number of films from Bollywood are being lined up for a direct-to-digital release as theatres once again are shut down due the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. Hungama 2 which stars Meezaan Jaffrey, Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty recently sealed the deal for its digital release with Disney+ Hotstar.

    Talking about the comedy leaving the theatrical queues, Priyadarshan told Mid-Day, “I am naturally disappointed as it’s the kind of film that people will enjoy watching together. It is my first Bollywood movie after eight years, and I was looking forward to it releasing in theatres. It is not meant for people to watch alone at home. But you cannot blame anybody.”


    The filmmaker while expressing his views also expressed solidarity with the producers and said that it isn’t possible for producers to sit on a product for so long given that too many films already waiting to open in theatres.

    Sharing a status update on Hungama 2 the filmmaker said that the project is in final post production stages and in a month will be ready to release online.
